The Summer at LA Team is incredible. We are so fortunate to have a staff made of energetic, talented, ambitious, and intelligent individuals who have led our camp to greatness. With the vast majority of our team over 18, and all directors over 21, our mature and responsible staff is excited to lead your child through an excellent summer.
Our activity specialists and camp directors are all very experienced in their field. Many of our sports programs are directed by Lawrence Academy Varsity coaching staff. Our lifeguards, swimming instructors, and archery instructors are all certified in their field. All staff must be CPR, AED and Epi-Pen certified, as well as pass an extensive background check including CORI, SORI, and fingerprinted for state and national criminal record checks. Staff attend an extensive week long training prior to camp starting. During this training they are trained in things such as mental health first aid, our emergency procedures, child development, inclusion, behavior management, allergies and more.
Our leadership team has additional training in youth and young adult mental health, inclusion, behavior management, programming, emergency procedures, LA Bus driving, as well as we certify all our leadership staff in First Aid on top of their mandated CPR, AED and Epi-Pen training.

Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.” -O’Fred Donaldson

Meet our Assistant Director, Laurel Rossiter
Laurel comes to us from Burlington Parks and Recreation where for the past 4 years she directed the Therapeutic Recreation Department. Her focus was to make all programming inclusive to all and working closely with families and staff to meet the needs of all participants. She worked with all ages in a variety of capacities, from after school sports and recreation programming, weekend outings, as well as much of her time was spent in Burlington’s vast summer camp and program offerings. Laurel is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and holds a Recreation Management and Policy degree from the University of New Hampshire. Last summer, we were lucky enough to work with Laurel as a consultant for our camp leadership staff! She was a tremendous resource before and during camp as we strived to make camp more inclusive to all. She trained all of our summer staff in inclusion and how we can best work with our families to make camp accessible, fun and rewarding! Prior to her time in Burlington, Laurel was an ABA Therapist for the Nashoba Learning Group for many years as well as spent over 5 years in the Groton-Dunstable School District. Laurel and her family live in Groton and she is so excited to be joining the Summer at LA family and helping us to continue bringing camps and programs to our greater community!
